Not everybody might know what to do with terms such as ‘responding’ and ‘reacting’ to issues, problems and situations. What is the difference? Tanya Curtis, Senior Behaviour Specialist and founding director of FABIC Behaviour Specialist Centre, offers a much simpler language.
‘Thumbs up’ is when a person is responding and working towards self-mastering the life lesson being presented to them and ‘thumbs down’ is when a person reacts and delays if not refuses to take the necessary steps towards self-mastery over their life lesson.
In the language of the FABIC Body Life Skills program, thumbs up is called option 1 behaviour (responding) and thumbs down option 2 behaviour (reacting). Option 1 leads to expansion, settlement in the body and more joy in life whereas option 2 results in stuckness, delay and frustration.
At any moment in life, all day and every day, we have the choice between responding and reacting to situations, between option 1 and option 2, between thumbs up and thumbs down behaviour.
