Can I get funding to use FABIC services?

Yes you can. Find out how.

There are several options for getting support with funding for Fabic services.

Understandably, each case is unique and it is our clients’ responsibility to source funding for themselves. Notwithstanding, this page offers an overview to help you get started. Please note that the outcome of any funding application is based on meeting the criteria of the funding body or organisation and entirely independent of FABIC.

Funding options are:

  • Medicare
  • Private Health
  • NDIS (please refer to our NDIS Support page, a whole section dedicated to the National Disability Insurance Scheme)

Medicare Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for some of the clinical services offered at Fabic.
See our frequently answered questions and learn more about the Medicare occupational therapy rebate, the Medicare rebate to see a psychologist, and Medicare rebates for speech pathology.

Medicare Rebate for Psychological Services

Can I get a Medicare rebate to see a psychologist at Fabic?

If you are seeing a Registered Psychologist at FABIC yes, you can get support from Medicare. We also have Provisional Psychologist’s at FABIC. Appointments with Provisional Psychologists are not eligible for Medicare rebates.

If you are seeing a Registered Psychologist at Fabic, you will require a Chronic Disease Management Plan or a Mental Health Treatment Plan (formerly known as a Mental Health Care Plan) referral for psychology from your GP, in order to access the rebate.

Please note that due to Tanya Curtis’ unique qualifications, her services are not eligible for Medicare rebates.

Speech Pathology Medicare Rebate

Are there any Medicare rebates for speech pathology?

Yes, Medicare rebates are available for Speech Pathology. You will need to talk to your GP about your requirements and obtain a Chronic Disease Management Plan in order to access these rebates.

Medicare Rebate for Occupational Therapy

Are there any Medicare rebates for Occupational Therapy sessions?

There is a Medicare rebate for Occupational Therapy services offered at FABIC. In order to qualify for the rebate, you need to talk to your GP and either obtain a Chronic Disease Management Plan or a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Further Medicare Rebates

Better start for children with a Disability / Helping Children with Autism Medicare Rebates for Speech Pathology, Psychology or Occupational Therapy

Better start for children with a Disability / Helping Children with Autism Therapy sessions are available through Medicare with rebates available for up to 20 therapy sessions. Sessions must be applied for before the child is 13 and used before a child is 15 years of age.

For children requiring an assessment to see if they have Autism, up to four sessions can be claimed for testing and Autism assessment services. While our Speech Pathologists, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists do not diagnose Autism, they can provide the evidence for a diagnosis to a psychiatrist or qualified psychologist.

To access these rebates you will require a referral from a paediatrician or child psychiatrist.

Private Health Insurance

If you have private health cover and are seeking Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or Psychology services at FABIC, you need to check what rebates are offered through your private health fund. We suggest you contact your fund directly and find out how much they will pay towards your appointments. FABIC staff will not be able to advise you of the exact rebates you might be entitled to due to the differences between private health funds and your specific health fund cover and its benefits.

Generally speaking, private health insurance will offer Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and some counselling, depending on the level of cover you have opted for.

Self-funded

In cases where neither Medicare nor private health fund rebates apply, you can self-fund any appointments from the suite of FABIC services and pay for them out of your own pocket.

As a reminder – the unique and specialised services offered by Senior Behaviour Specialist & Counsellor Tanya Curtis are not covered by Medicare or private health funds.

Generally speaking, private health insurance will offer Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and some counselling, depending on the level of cover you have opted for.

NDIS

If you have an NDIS approved funding package you may be eligible to source our clinical services team via Behaviour Specialist Services, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy and/or Psychology services. Note: Fabic does not organise funding and participants must go direct to NDIS to source eligibility. Fabic services are available once participant has NDIS approval.
