Helping someone find their voice can change far more than just the way they speak. It can change how they see themselves, their relationships, their sense of self, and the way they move through the world. That is what I love most about this work.
I am a Speech Pathologist at FABIC, supporting children and adults with communication, speech, language, literacy, voice and social communication. I work mainly with children, while also supporting adults, and I offer both in-person and telehealth appointments from Sydney’s Northern Beaches. FABIC is deeply aligned to the way I believe support should be offered seeing the person first, not just the diagnosis, and genuinely believes in helping people grow into their fullest potential.
Personally, one of the things that most shapes the way I work is that I understand this journey from both sides. As well as being a Speech Pathologist, I am also a mum to a boy who needed speech support early in life. My son was born with a cleft lip and palate, and walking through that experience gave me a very real understanding of how much the right support can impact not only a child, but the whole family around them. It deepened my understanding, strengthened my perspective, and continues to inform the care I provide every day.
My work spans a range of communication areas, including speech sound differences, language development, literacy, fluency, voice and stuttering, social communication, and AAC for clients who are non-speaking or need an alternative way to communicate. I also work closely with many neurodivergent children, including children with autism and ADHD, and I take a neuroaffirming, client-centred approach to supporting them.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that communication should never be about forcing someone to fit a narrow mould. It is about helping each person communicate in a way that feels right for them, supports their independence, and allows them to express who they are as fully as possible. I want the people I work with to feel seen, understood and supported to flourish as themselves.
My approach is warm, practical and highly individualised. I focus on what matters most to the client and their family. I take the time to understand how a person communicates, what is getting in the way of their communication, what their goals are, and how we can support meaningful progress in a way that feels achievable and empowering.
One of my greatest strengths is meeting people for who they truly are. Whether I am helping a child become clearer in their speech, supporting a young adult with literacy and language development, or setting up AAC for someone who has not yet had a reliable way to express themselves, my goal is always the same: to help that person feel more connected, more capable, and more confident in their place in the world
