About

I am a Behaviour Support Practitioner and Counsellor at FABIC, and I bring a warm, practical and highly people-centred approach to my work. I currently work mostly with primary school-aged children, supporting them with things like school engagement, communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and navigating the world in a way that feels safer and more manageable for them. I am especially drawn to helping children who may be finding everyday life harder than the people around them, and supporting them in a way that feels encouraging rather than judgemental.
A big part of my approach is making things practical, playful and easy to connect with. I love finding creative ways to help children build skills without making it feel heavy or forced. Whether that is using games, interests, characters they love, or turning everyday tasks into something more engaging, I focus on helping them feel capable and involved rather than overwhelmed. I want the children I work with to feel that they can do life in their own way, and that needing support with something does not mean there is something wrong with them.

I also bring a lot of patience and calmness into my work. I understand that many children are trying their best to hold it together all day at school or in social settings, and that home can often be the place where everything spills out. My role is to meet them in that space with understanding, help build skills around the challenges they are facing, and work alongside families in a way that feels practical and supportive.

One of the things I enjoy most is helping children build confidence through simple, meaningful wins. Sometimes that is learning to do something independently that used to feel too hard. Sometimes it is making a routine easier, trying something new, or learning to engage with the world a little more comfortably. I have found that often the simplest things can create the biggest shifts when they are approached in the right way.

My path into this work began with a Diploma of Counselling and a strong interest in working with people. Before behaviour support, I also did private support work and earlier therapy assistant work with FABIC, which gave me hands-on experience supporting children in everyday settings. Alongside this, I have spent many years in hospitality and still work in that space as well, currently managing a large café team. That experience has taught me a lot about patience, staying calm under pressure, leading people well, and meeting all kinds of personalities without judgement.

I have also done volunteer work with Save the Children, including supporting family days in a maximum-security prison setting. That experience opened my eyes even more to the importance of not judging people only by what you see on the surface, and it strengthened my desire to work in ways that support children and families through challenging circumstances.
