Poster 15 – Control Vs. Self-Mastery

$10.00$120.00

When it comes to our life-lessons, we always have two choices: firstly, whether we accept and engage with the new lesson or reject and delay it. And secondly, do we choose self-mastery, or do we choose control?

When it comes to our life-lessons, we always have two choices: firstly, whether we accept and engage with the new lesson or reject and delay it (remember though, they keep coming around) and secondly:

  • Do we choose self-mastery?

OR

  • Do we choose control?

When we choose control, we are delaying our life lesson. We try to control other people and life situations so that our experience of life changes to one that we prefer/need/demand/insist on. In this scenario, change is only ever short-term at best.

But guess what? It takes two for the model of control to work: one person who controls and another person who allows themselves to be controlled and thus enables the controlling behaviour.

But there is another way.

When we choose self-mastery, we choose increased independence by bringing focus to changing our own behaviour to change our own experience of life. And when we teach self-mastery, we make ourselves redundant. How? Rather than ‘carry’ another person and be responsible for them, their behaviours and their natural consequences/behaviour outcomes, we support them to increase their capacity and become more and more independent.

Which model would you rather live?

Short-term change and relief or LASTING behaviour change and self-mastery for all involved?
